Pets Alive: A second chance for 88 displaced shelter animals

Many animals at risk will be getting a second chance at a loving home this holiday, thanks to a joint effort between a rescue organization that calls itself Pets Alive and the ASPCA.

Thanks to the humanitarian efforts, 88 dogs will be transported from JP Ranch and Rescue in Atkins, Arkansas to two Pets Alive sanctuaries north of New York City. The need to transfer the animals is sadly a result of the founder of the Arkansas rescue group suffering from a terminal illness, which necessitates closing facility.

The dogs will be transported in two shipments. The first 53 pooches will be arriving today at Pets Alive Westchester (located at 100 Warehouse Lane South in Elmsford, NY 10523) and Pets Alive Sanctuary (located at 363 Derby Road in Middletown, NY 10940).

The dogs are mostly medium to large mixed-breed dogs, with a handful of small breeds. All are up for adoption. Kerry Clair, executive director of Pets Alive, notes that “this has been a very complicated rescue, yet thanks to all the dedicated and passionate people involved it has been a smooth transition and transfer of animals. We can't wait to welcome these dogs into our facility and get them quickly into homes.”
