Petra Nemcova has many accomplishments to be proud of. Featured model on the cover of the 2003, 'Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue'. Published author of her autobiography, 'Love Always'. Host of TLC's, 'A Model Life' and the most recent, Dancing with the Stars reject.
Petra Nemcova began her Ballroom Dance endeavor on March 21, 2011 with her debut on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' as a celebrity contestant. It was a struggle from the beginning for Nemcova. She is stunningly beautiful and sophisticated, with a natural grace and charm. But ironically the many physical attributes that Nemcova possesses just didn't combine naturally on the dance floor.
The Dancing with the Stars judges loved Petra Nemcova's lines, she is tall 5' 10'' and while her height worked well with a Waltz or Paso Doble, it played havoc with a Jive or Quick Step. When Petra performed a Waltz, she scored well, a 25 out of a possible 30 points placing her second on the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard. Yet her Quick Step scored poorly, a 22 out of a possible 30, ranking her tied in last place.
While the judges scores are important for a Dancing with the Stars contestant, votes from fans at home are what keeps them dancing. Many viewers were unfamiliar with Petra Nemcova. She is not a popular television personality, musician, sports star or actor, therefore Nemcova did not have a fan base as large as those of Kirstie Alley, Romeo or Hines Ward. It was inevitable that she would be voted off of Dancing with the Stars.
Petra Nemcova was voted off of ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' 2011, she may now and forever be known as a "Dancing with the Stars reject", but there is more to Petra Nemcova than what has been listed above.
Petra Nemcova has witnessed first hand the human suffering that a victim of natural disaster endures. Nemcova and fiance, Simon Atlee were present when a tsunami hit the Khao Lak resort in Thailand where they were staying. She survived by clinging to a palm tree for over eight hours, despite the excruciating pain of a broken pelvis and massive internal injuries. Her fiance did not survive the tsunami, he was swept away and reportedly drowned.
A year after her ordeal and recovery, Petra Nemcova created the charitable organization, 'Happy Hearts Fund'. It was designed to help victims of disaster bring hope and opportunity back into their lives. This is Petra Nemcova's greatest accomplishment. Not modeling, not writing, not television and not Dancing with the Stars.
Yes, Petra Nemcova was voted off of ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' 2011 competition, but she did not leave heart broken at the loss. Nemcova shared with viewers that her Dancing with the Stars exposure had brought fund raising to the 'Happy Hearts Fund'.
