Joli Convertible Dress in Mist
With approximately 60% of the population falling into the overweight category, it comes as no surprise that designers and retailers are feeling the pressure to design for diverse bodies. Even fashion publications like Glamour and V Magazine are devoting more pages to showcasing “real women.” However in the midst of this “every body is beautiful” revolution, it seems as though an entire segment of the population has been forgotten. While the average American woman may wear a size 14, there are scores of petite women who find shopping just as difficult as their plus sized counter parts.
Enter Teresa Le, whois proof that big things really do come in small packages. Le, a petite woman herself, noticed the lack of choices available for smaller framed women and decided to do something about it. In the summer of 2007 Teresa started TLe Designs “for the petite carefree fashionistas who lives life large.” Her eponymous line consists of boldly printed tops and dresses that are cut for a shorter frame and make young petite women feel beautiful without the hassle of alterations and the troubles of hunting for something age appropriate in the junior section. TLe also carries accessories designed to make any woman feel stylish.
