The organizers of Monkees Convention 2014 announced some exciting news March 1 – Peter Tork will join Micky Dolenz and Mike Nesmith at Monkees Convention 2014 March 14-16 at the Hilton Meadowlands in Meadowlands, N.J..

“Peter will be there on Saturday between 2 and 5 p.m.,” convention organizer Jodi Blau Ritzen told the Monkees Examiner. She said he will sign autographs and meet-and-greet fans.

Ritzen also said special highlight of the convention will be the premiere of the movie about Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, “The Guys Who Wrote Them.” Boyce and Hart penned many Monkees songs, including “Last Train to Clarksville,” plus others for Paul Revere & the Raiders, Jay and the Americans and the Leaves.

“We're raising money by showing the movie. We're going to be raising money to help the finished product. Bobby Hart and Rachel Lichman, who's the director, are going to be on hand to meet fans and talk about the project,” she said.

The movie will be shown four different times between Friday and Saturday for 50 people at each showing.

According to the convention website, the 90-minute film is narrated by Bobby Hart and features commentary from Monkees Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. Admission to the screenings is $20, which includes the movie, a Q&A and a gift for being a participant in the project. The convention showings to raise money to the film to the big screen.
