Peter Thomas Roth is my new friend

I recently stumbled upon two products by Peter Thomas Roth that I have to rant about. The Blemish Buffing Beads and the Oilless Oil™ 100% Purified Squalane. During the winter months, my regularly oily skin turns to a dry and flaky state that is extremely hard to treat. I still have shine in my nose area, but the rest of my skin can compare to the texture of an elephant’s skin. Not fun. So I have been looking for a good exfoliator that can not only slough off dead skin, but can also be used as treatment for my annoying adult acne. I found that in PTR’s Blemish Buffing Beads.

With jojoba beads, 1% salicylic acid and glycolic acid as the active ingredients, one would think that this is a fairly harsh product for everyday use. It is quite the contrary. After using once with fingertip application, I noticed a fairly smoother canvas and was interested to see if I would get even better results using my Clarisonic brush (I would definitely recommend easing into use with any automatic facial cleansing brush; just to be sure you don’t shock your skin). Let’s just say, it was amazing. My skin felt hydrated, soft, and even looked brighter. Over the course of a week, I noticed fewer blemishes and softer skin. This exfoliator is gentle enough to use every day and does not leave you feeling raw, like you just had your skin ripped off. These buffing beads have become a part of my daily morning routine, and the fruity grapefruit smell is an absolute pick-me-up on mundane mornings. PTR also features botanical and anti-aging buffing beads, if you don’t have any concerns with blemishes.

The Oilless Oil™ product has become icing on the cake. Knowing that my skin is super dry around this time of year, I crave moisture, but not too much. This ‘oil’ is more like a serum that hydrates, but does not leave you feeling greasy and shiny. It gives just the right amount of moisture and leaves the skin feeling smooth and soft. One of the benefits of this product for me is that the main ingredient, squalane, is derived from sugarcane and not shark livers, as is typical of other squalane products (I trying this vegan thing out for a while).

Of course, it is always best to find the products that work best for your skin type and routine. I would definitely recommend these products for acne prone skin or those with the occasional blemish. Both will leave you feeling soft and refreshed, like you put on a new face!
