While most designers were showing neutral colors and classic shapes on the Spring 2011 runways during New York Fashion Week, Peter Som took a different direction and debuted bright, shiny shoes, sunglasses and belts. The blue, pink, purple and yellow Charlotte Olympia shoes stole the show, paired with equally bright outfits. For a toned-down look, Som and Olympia created metallic silver platforms for a more wear-with-anything look.
But the bright colors weren't confined to the feet. Colorful acetate sunglasses were big, bright and dark ovals on models' faces, colorful yellow, orange and blue belts cinched waists of even brighter outfits--mostly dresses--and bright floral prints on jackets matched pants and bandeau tops.
For those women who crave brighter colors for spring after the dull, drab fall and winter neutrals have run their course, Peter Som delivers.
