Season four of ‘White Collar’ has been full of surprises including Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) searching and discovering his past. In ‘Brass Tracks’, Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) and Neal began their investigation into Senator Terrance Pratt (Titus Welliver) resulting in Peter being hospitalized and Agent Reese Hughes (James Rebhorn) fired. Peter’s trust in Neal is declining when he caught Neal in a lie. What lies ahead for Neal and Peter?
According to executive producer Jeff Eastin, Peter begins to realize the closer his relationship to Neal becomes, the more he works in a gray area. Hughes informed Peter he needs to do what he believes is right in his heart, not what’s written in the law causing Peter to accept his “Neal side” that he has always had (TVline.com). Will Peter be thinking, “What would Neal do? (WWND)”, and act accordingly? It will be interesting to see Peter’s inner con artist.
Neal is in the middle of a breakdown because he has been dealing with two things – accepting who his father is and who he is or will become. Neal wants the American dream – white picket fence and family, but he knows that dream is not for him. Then he wonders if he has become a self-fulfilling prophecy or can he change into the man he wants to be? Eastin states Neal will become angry with Peter and Mozzie (Willie Garson) for questioning his relationship with James, and it may result in Neal pulling away from Peter and Mozzie (Ibtimes.com).
Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton) will return. Sara decided to investigate into her sister’s disappearance resulting in her return into Neal’s life. Neal and Sara have a friends with benefits relationship, but when Sara receives a promotion that will take her to the United Kingdom, it will cause them to rethink their relationship including if they should pursue or not. There will be several scenes with Neal and Sara including both of them kissing by a fountain and being kidnapped together (TVline.com). Will Neal tell Sara how he really feels about her? Will Sara not take the promotion to be with Neal?
The end of the season will have the Empire State Building as an iconic set piece (TVline.com). There are no details on how the Empire State Building will be involved.
For Charlotte viewers, ‘White Collar’ ‘Empire City’ airs on February 5, 2013 at 9 p.m. on USA Network.
