Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan opened at Cincinnati’s Aronoff Center on Tuesday night, March 12 and brought with it a little bit of fairy dust for audiences of all ages.
The show will be in town for a week-long engagement, through Sunday, March 17 and it proved to be delightful and worthy of a standing ovation.
Rigby, a former Olympian, triumphantly flies across the stage with Tinkerbell for a more than two-hour show that takes The Darling children and audiences on a journey to Neverland.
Refusing to grow up, Peter Pan leads Wendy (Krista Buccellato), Michael (Sophie Sooter) and John (Lexy Baeza) and the Lost Boys through time and space, conquering an array of challenges as they face a witty, but sneaky Captain Hook (Brent Barrett), his band of pirates and a pet crocodile.
Packed with action and excitement, the show creates an engaging live theater experience with plenty of magical moments for the young and old alike. “The “Pirate March” and “Wendy” from Scene 2 are only a few examples.
This award-winning and Tony nominated musical earns its stars with a colorful set, a well-seasoned cast and a number of crowd-pleasing songs including “I Won’t Grow Up,” “I’m Flying,” “I Gotta Crow,” and “Tender Shepherd.”
Peter Pan, still a popular and well-loved children’s classic, is an adventure from beginning to end with plenty of action scenes that explore the skies, a magical land and sea. With smiles all around, the family-friendly musical ends with Peter Pan flying into the crowd and it doesn’t disappoint. The evening was lighthearted and fun for everyone.
