Peter Facinelli appeared on The Talk yesterday to promote the release of Loosies, the film he wrote, produced, and starred in.
In the interview, he talked a bit about The Twilight Saga and how he almost didn't audition for the first film. At first, he thought it would be a "B Movie" horror flick, but then he found out about Catherine Hardwicke's involvement and then checked out the book.
"I read the book, and I was up 'til like three o'clock in the morning and I could not put it down. There's something about that book that when you're reading it, you can't put it down," he explained.
Then, he didn't get the role he auditioned for after all . . . until the other actor they were going to go with dropped out. Evidently, it was Facinelli's kindness to Hardwicke that secured his selection for the newly opened role.
He told the ladies of The Talk that he sent Hardwicke a Hollywood-esque book after not receiving the part in hopes that they'd work together some other time, and Hardwicke, when later asked who she'd like to fill the role, chose Facinelli. Kindness and consideration paid off!
"I always joked with her. I said, you know, I bought my role for $29.99," he laughed.
About Loosies, Facinelli explained that he wanted to make a movie about his hometown of New York.
"I grew up in New York, and I always take the subways . . . I just thought what a fantastic world . . . I'd ride the subways, and I just started imagining this pickpocket," he explained.
He went on to describe, in detail, the plot of the film and some of the character backstory, saying, "It's as much of a love story as it is a coming of age story."
A short clip from the show is attached, in which he takes a bite out of Sharon Osbourne, but the full episode can be watched here (skip to the 16:30 mark to catch Facinelli's interview).
Peter Facinelli will be doingn a live chat session, also promoting Loosies, next Tuesday, January 10th on Celebuzz. Head here for details and information on how to participate in the live chat!
