Peter Banks dead at 65: Yes original guitarist found dead in London home

The original guitarist from the rock group Yes was found dead in his London home after failing to show up for a recording session. According to USA Today on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, Peter Banks, 65, died of heart failure, this is what the musician's website listed as cause of death.

Banks was the original guitarist who help rocket the band Yes to fame and fortune. He was with Yes during the time they cut their first two albums “Yes”(1969) and “Time and a Word” (1970). Before “Time and a Word” was released, Banks was asked to leave the band and he was replaced by Steve Howe.

Other bands that Banks played with through the years was The Syn, Flash and Empire. At the time of his death he was working on a live collection. Yes released a statement about Banks death calling him a “founding Yes member” and saying “he was a huge piece of the fabric that made Yes what it is.”

Yes was touring in the U.S. When they got word of their former bandmate's death.
