After pop star Jessica Simpson tweeted of her desire to own a pet pig, she asked the question, "Does this mean I'll have to give up pork?" In a response issued to Examiner.com, PETA offers Simpson an answer.

"Pigs, who are smarter than dogs and every bit as sensitive to pain and stress, don't belong in Jessica's stomach," said PETA Vice President Dan Matthews said in a statement issued to Examiner. Adding, "And shouldn't be carted around as her latest accessory."
Matthews' words referring to the IQ of dogs, was in response to Jessica's desire to obtain a pig to replace her pet Maltipoo Daisy, who was taken by a coyote last year.
While PETA's answer to Simpson comes direct, it's not far different from their response to Paris Hilton's adoption of a pig pet in October, 2009. Posted on TMZ.com, PETA quickly responded to Paris, saying: "[Paris is ] “wretched example” in her treatment of animals. Adding, her general treatment of animals, including the adoption of a pet pig, “as disposable as her friends and fiances.”
As for animals being accessories? PETA told Paris, much like Simpson: "The Chihuahuas, ferrets, and kinkajous she’s paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren’t either.” Click here to stay subscribed!
