PETA has gone after their next celebrity target. This time it’s Katy Perry and her music video for “Roar.” A spokeswoman for the animal rights organization stated they are unhappy with her video because she exploits exotic animals.
PETA spokeswoman Merrilee Burke released a statement regarding Perry’s music video. “Animals used for entertainment endure horrific cruelty and suffer from extreme confinement and violent training methods. They often become stressed and anxious when hauled around and forced into unfamiliar or frightening situations.”
PETA is known for their exposure of celebrities when it comes to animal rights. They boycotted the movie “The Hobbit” for the treatment of the animals used in the movies. A member of PETA was responsible for flour bombing Kim Kardashian.
Animal rights are important as no animal deserves to be mistreated and/or abused. It is organizations such as PETA that help end the abuse of animals and bring about awareness to their cause.
What do you think? Are PETA’s boycotts and other actions acceptable or should they handle it in other ways?
