Tuesday, animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) slammed Beyonce for what she wore Sunday during her half-time performance at the Super Bowl. Beyonce, 31, wore several animal hide skins during her 15-minute performance, and the news has created a buzz. Most of the news following Beyonce’s performance has been positive. The New York Times reported that her outfits were made from leather, paneled iguana and python skin. See the video above for more information about this story.
Beyonce’s halftime show black bodysuit was designed by Rubin Singer.
PETA released this statement on Tuesday:
We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposes, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully. Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.
Over the last few days, Beyonce's has also been criticized for making a hand gesture that has been associated with the Illuminati. She made the gesture during her reunion with Destiny Child close to the end of her performance.
Jay Busbee of Shutdown Corner had this to say about Beyonce’s hand gesture:
The Illuminati are a tiny, super-secret cabal of influential individuals who have shaped the course of world events. So it makes perfect sense that Beyonce would flash their triangle sign to one of the largest viewing audiences in human history. What better way to preserve a secret?
Neilsen ratings reported that 104 million people watched the halftime show during the Super Bowl on Sunday evening.
