Mark your calendar for the weekend of April 13-14, 2013. You don’t want to miss Pet Valu’s Pet Appreciation Weekend (PAW) celebration at a store near you.
There will be games, refreshments, giveaways and pet adoptions staged at all Pet Valu stores. While the events are focused around the weekend, Pet Valu and their customers will be raising money and donating food and supplies to local animal charities during the entire month of April.
Bring your leashed pet and visit with other adoptable pets at the store. You just might find a new forever friend to add to your household.
PAW is meant to be a fun, lighthearted, family-oriented event with a serious message. Each year there are 5-7 million cats and dogs entering shelters across the country while many others are left out in the streets.
It is estimated by the APPA that Americans will spend about $55.53 billion in 2013 on their pets; yet pet homelessness remains a major problem. The ASPCA estimates the number of feral cats alone to be in the tens of millions.
Pet Valu views Pet Appreciation Weekend as a chance to build awareness and raise much needed funds for local animal agencies and services. Last year, during Pet Valu’s annual Pet Appreciation Weekend, over 300 pets were adopted and over $100,000 in the United States, and over $500,000 in the U.S. and Canada combined, was donated to local shelters. This is your chance to join Pet Valu in helping animals in need.
