Pet Shop Boys announced release info for the duo’s next single, “Love is a Bourgeois Construct,” on their website today. The single, two B-sides and multiple remixes will be available digitally on Sept. 1 and as a physical CD on Sept. 30. The song comes from Pet Shop Boys’ critically acclaimed new club album “Electric,” which is available now.
“Love is a Bourgeois Construct” will feature two all-new tracks by Pet Shop Boys, “Entschuldigung!” and “Get it online.” The single will also include seven new remixes of the track including the "Nighttime Radio Edit," "The Penelopes Remix," "Claptone Remix," "Little Boots Discotheque," "Dave Aude Big Dirty Dub," "Claptone Instrumental" and "Little Boots Discotheque Dub." These various tracks will all be available on the CD release or divided between two digital bundles.
When asked about “Love is a Bourgeois Construct” Pet Shop Boys' vocalist Neil Tennant told Electronic Beats, “It’s funny singing this live, which we were doing in rehearsals this week. It’s in a very different vocal range from “It’s a Sin” or something. It’s quite conversational. It’s quite difficult to EQ live, because it’s a sort of conversational part of my voice. And the lyric was inspired by a novel by David Lodge called Nice Work, in which a university lecturer in English has to shadow, for a project, a guy who runs a factory in Birmingham. And he falls in love with her, and she tells him that love is a bourgeois construct.”
Pet Shop Boys “Electric” is available now in both physical and digital formats. The British duo's "Electric Tour" is set to hit North America in Sept. and tickets are on sale now. Stay tuned for more details on “Love is a Bourgeois Construct” when they become available.
