There is a new app for Android Smartphones called Dog Wars. In this game, the player can "feed, water, train and fight dogs" in a virtual setting. Players of the game are proclaiming things like "“great game now I know the rush mike vick use to feel!!! [sic]"
The problem is that what Michael Vick did was illegal and he (arguably) paid the price for it. Though this game takes place in a virtual world and is therefore not illegal, there is still concern that this game not only encourages animal cruelty and abuse but also works to continue the many myths and misconceptions that surround the pit bull breeds.
In an attempt to convince Google, the owner of Android, that this app is inappropriate, Change.org has started a petition asking Google to ban the app. Joining Change.org in the fight are a dedicated and passionate group of pet bloggers that are helping to spread the word about the petition and urging their readers to sign.
You can visit Change.org to sign the petition telling Android to block the dog fighting app. The more signitures collected, the greater the possibility that Google and Android will move to ban this app.
