Pet insurance means no crystal ball needed for the New Year

With the New Year fast approaching, we’d love to see into the future year with a crystal ball, but that’s not actually possible, is it?  There’s one thing Dallas dog owners can bank on, and that’s vet bills.  Even when your dog is young and healthy, the unexpected emergency can blindside you like a freight train.  And one thing that is certain, there’s never enough “extra money".  So what can a dog owner do to prepare for the coming year?

Two words: pet insurance.  Surely you’ve seen the pamphlets at the vet, but is pet insurance worth the monthly bill?  Definitely.   Dallas dog owners are realizing that while they love their buddies, vet care can be costly.  Just remember you get what you pay for, so cutting corners can be costly in the long run.

Pet insurance, like all other insurance, won’t cover pre-existing conditions.  The earlier in your pup’s life you sign up, the better.  Many companies offer a variety of insurance packages to choose from.  Depending on the plan chosen, coverage can include routine yearly wellness exams, routine procedures like spays, neuters and dental cleanings, and unexpected costly diagnostics and surgeries.

The next time you’re at the vet, keep an eye out for the clients asking the vet staff to fill out their insurance paperwork for submittal.  They’re there, quietly getting a return on the investment they’ve made for their dogs’ health, while you’re paying full price out of pocket.  From personal experience, I can tell you pet insurance covered the majority of my former pup’s lymphoma treatments.   We would’ve lost two years of her life without this treatment; a treatment that would’ve been far too costly out of pocket.

Insurance enables you to make the best health choice for you pup, not settle for the least expensive option.  Make a New Year’s resolution for better health care for your pups.  It’s a wise investment!
