Pet-friendly New Yorker Hotel offers dog spa packages during Westminster Show

The pet-friendly New Yorker Hotel (www.NewYorkerHotel.com) is once again welcoming dogs and owners as guests during the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in February with added amenities for show participants and supporters. Two dog spa packages will be available to guests for a extra fee, added to the cost of the hotel stay.

The Classic Dog Spa Package, priced at $50 per dog, includes use of Jog A DogTM treadmills (exclusive to the New Yorker Hotel), grooming stations, blow dryers and indoor potty areas. Guests who book this package will also receive a special edition dog show publication, free of charge, along with complimentary dog treats.

Guests can choose to upgrade their package to the Premium Dog Spa Package, priced at $75 per dog, which includes all of the amenities in the Classic Dog Spa Package, in addition to access to bathing areas for the canines.

Dog spa facilities will be fully operational from Thursday, Feb. 7 - Monday, Feb. 11 from 6 am to 10 pm. On Tuesday, Feb. 12, the dog spa will be fully staffed from 6 am to 10 am. After 10 am, the spa will remain open but staff assistance will not be available. The potty area will be open on a 24-hour basis from Thursday, Feb. 7 until Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 12 pm. Accommodations at the New Yorker Hotel are still available during the Westminster Dog Show with rates starting at $219 per night. These special packages must be booked by phone or at the front desk upon check-in.

The dog spa packages are not included in the room rate and are quoted per dog, per room, per stay. Package tickets are available for $25 for each additional dog over the Premium Dog Spa Package. All package tickets are redeemed at the front desk upon check-in. Grooming and bathing services require a reservation with spa staff on premises.

Sponsors contributing to the event include: Jog A DogTM, which will be donating four doggie treadmills for use so that handlers can exercise their dogs; Isle of Dogs, which will be providing over 50 gallons of pet shampoo and conditioners, along with hundreds of packages of doggie treats, brochures and product catalogs; UltraLift, Inc., which will be providing four bathtubs for bathing dogs, along with two portable and two stationary grooming tables; and Natural Balance Pet Foods, Inc., which will be donating dog treat samples; Additional sponsors may also be participating.

Transportation arrangements for dogs to the hotel from major New York metropolitan airports (JFK/LaGuardia/Newark Liberty International) should be made by contacting New Yorker Rides – the hotel’s exclusive airport transportation service. New Yorkie Runway Fashion Show

Adding to the excitement of the February festivities, the New Yorker Hotel will host the New Yorkie Runway Fashion Show on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, a kind of pre-show to the Westminster.

The New Yorkie Runway Fashion Show kicks off with a Red Carpet Cocktail Party at 5:30 pm before the four-legged models hit the runway at 7 pm. Tickets for the Cocktail Hour & Fashion Show are $50 per person. Fashion Show only tickets are available for $35 per person (canine companions are complimentary). The official voice of Westminster and author of the book Angel on a Leash, David Frei, will emcee this canine couture event with NYC’s New YorkieTM pet apparel dressing the runway pups in its new Spring line. All proceeds from the New Yorkie Runway Fashion Show will benefit Angel on a Leash, a non-profit organization that creates therapy dog programs for hospitals and institutions (www.angelonaleash.org).

Bravo TV's Real Housewives of New York City reality stars Sonja Morgan and Carole Radziwill, and Schmitty The Weather Dog and Meteorologist Ron Trotta (the official weather team for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show) are among the New York personalities and celebrities who will be walking the runway with their pups to raise money for this important cause.
