First Aid for Pets November 12
Most people know what to do when a person needs first aid, but what about pets?
The Cleveland Metroparks and American Red Cross are holding a Pet First Aid program on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 1-5 pm. The program, which is open to the public, will be at the Rocky River Reservation, 20230 Lorain Rd. and will feature emergency care procedures for cats and dogs.
Knowing what to do for you pet in an emergency can save your pet’s life.
Training will be conducted on feline and canine manikins. The cost of the program is $40 (includes dog or cat book and DVD) or, $55 (includes dog & cat books & DVDs). Register by November 9 by calling 440-331-8111.

Hiking Spree for Dogs November 13
Norton Metroparks serving Summit County is offering a free Hiking Spree for Dogs program Nov 13 at 1 pm. Meet up is in the parking lot of the Silver Creek Metropark’s Big Oak area; 5199 Medina Line Road. This is an annual event where dogs and their owners can hike the 2-mile Chippewa Trail with other pet lovers. Pets must be on a leash (8 feet maximum) and under their owner’s control at all times. All animals will receive a special reward. Hike begins at 1 pm. For more information, call 330-865-8065.
