Pet Buddies Food Pantry: reaching those in need beyond Georgia

Pet Buddies Food Pantry is a non-profit group that donates pet food to low income families in Georgia in desperate need. Their mission is to help keep pets in homes and out of shelters. Even though Pet Buddies focuses on helping families and pets in Georgia, they sometimes become aware of a need outside of the state that they simply cannot ignore.

As 2013 begins, Pet Buddies is reaching out to Texas to help a man and his dogs in need. Heather Koehler, Director of Operations for Pet Buddies said “We just saw a post on FB with a bunch of people in his community helping him with items for his new home and we wanted to send a package for his pets. We can't take too much credit - he has a lot of support out there!”

Here is a recent posting from the Pet Buddies’ Facebook page about William:

“This is William and his dogs and his life in a shopping cart. He has been homeless until he connected with his sister and their luck is about to change when they move into a new apartment next week!! He lives in Houston TX. Even though we are in Atlanta, while kind citizens are helping him gain new items for his home, we were compelled to help his dogs. We will be sending pet food, leashes, new bowls & treats. His dogs’ spay surgeries are already covered by other good people. We have been blessed at Pet Buddies and we want to help them start a new fantastic life together. So many people up and walk away from being accountable for their pets, but not William, they are at his side and there is something to be said for that!”
