Monday, August 25, 2014: The keyword for today is grit. Grit is the human capacity to stick with and pursue a goal over a long period of time. A person with grit sets long term goals for themselves and pursues them deliberately and passionately... in spite of obstacles, discouragement or distraction. It is the "passion" component in grit that drives the person to persevere... no matter what the cost... and succeed in the long term. Grit is not for the faint hearted... true grit requires courage, conscientiousness, endurance, follow- through, resilience, optimism, confidence, creativity and a drive for excellence.
Over the past month you've proved you are a talent to be recognized... but having star quality is not enough. To get to the top you must have grit. It's time to roll up your sleeves and put in some gritty effort. There's work to be done... and you now have the drive, ambition, passion... GRIT... to create something enduring. Just remember to bring your best self to that effort.
You now have a sense of what you want to do, so start making plans.... just don't obsess about the future. Stay in the present... persevere and see what develops before making any judgment about what your future might hold. Work behind the scenes, grow your abilities, learn new skills and develop healthy habits that will enhance your your life. And, keep in mind that it's often the little things that count. So, add your special touch but pay attention to the details... Persevere and get the job done, but do it with your own special flair.
