A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey published today finds that neither major party candidate in Texas’ gubernatorial race gains any ground. According to the poll Republican Rick Perry picks up 49% of the vote, while Democrat Bill White receives 41%.
In July Perry held a nearly identical 50% to 41% advantage over White, and in mid-June Perry, Texas longest serving governor, held a 48% to 40% lead over former Houston mayor Bill White. White ran closest to Perry in April when only four points separated the two.
Bill White faces a tough race in a state that trends conservative Republican and snubbed President Obama when he visited Texas a few weeks ago. Democrats Chet Edwards and Ciro Rodriguez have also announced that they won’t appear with the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who is in Dallas for a political fundraiser today.
