Last week, Mandalay Bay Resort along with Cirque du Soleil and The Michael Jackson Estate announced plans to create a permanent tribute to The King of Pop in Las Vegas. The tribute centers around the new Michael Jackson show produced by Cirque du Soleil opening December 3 at Mandalay Bay.
"Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour" runs for an extended period in Las Vegas during its 30-city North American tour. Then in 2013, a permanent Michael Jackson show will make its home at Mandalay Bay. (See photos from Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour)
"We are thrilled to establish Michael's home away from home at Mandalay Bay. Because of its remote location, few people will ever get to visit Michael's Neverland Ranch. But millions of Michael's fans will be able to hear Michael's music and experience him in tangible and exciting new ways at Mandalay Bay," said John Branca and John McClain, Executors of The Estate of Michael Jackson.
In addition to the show, fans will be able to attend the first ever Estate-authorized Michael Jackson Fan Fest scheduled at Mandalay Bay on the same days as the Cirque du Soleil show. The Fan Fest will offer "an up-close look at Michael Jackson memorabilia, items from Neverland Ranch, photo opportunities in recreated sets from historic Michael Jackson videos, a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Michael Jackson The Immortal World Tour" and a competition with the video game "Michael Jackson The Experience." More details can be found at www.MichaelJacksonFanFest.com.
A permanent exhibit at Mandalay Bay called "Michael Jackson All Access" will present a technologically-driven interactive experience to help bring fans closer to all aspects of Michael Jackson including the performer, the philanthropist and the person.
