The Des Moines Metro will soon have a new Perkins restaurant and several new Scooter's Coffee & Yogurt locations. Here are the details.

Cy-Hawk Hospitality is building another new Perkins in the Metro. After just opening a new Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Ankeny last July, Cy-Hawk is now in the process of building a new Perkins in Altoona. The Altoona location will be situated behind Jethro's BBQ & Jake's Smokehouse Steaks on Adventureland Drive. The restaurant is expected to open in May.

Scooter's Coffee & Yogurt is in the process of building 10 new Metro locations. There are currently Scooter's coffee shops at 3800 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines and at 7450 Bridgewood Boulevard in West Des Moines. The coffee shops also will soon be popping up at 1315 31st Street and at 206 6th Avenue in Des Moines. The latter location will be going into the old Amici Espresso location in the Midland Building downtown. Midland owner Jeff Young has kept the old Amici running as Hippee Coffee until he could find someone else to put a coffee shop into that spot. Both new Scooter's locations are expected to open sometime this month. There has been no word yet on where the remaining Scooter's locations will end up.
