Performances of historic autobiographies for film and stage

On Thursday, December 8, 10:30 a.m., Performance Studies students in the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present performances of autobiographies for film and stage. This program, which is entitled The Underlying Truth, is free and open to the public. Each of the performances, individually about five minutes in length, is an autobiographical story of a fascinating historic character. Each performer has conducted primary source research, written and produced his or her script. As the performers' schedules allow, these pieces can be available as cameos or expanded for community service in schools, churches, museums, and civic organizations. This presentation will be held in Brindley Auditorium in York Science Hall at UMHB.

Kristen Kitchen will perform the story of Amy Carmichael, Irish missionary to India in Live to Love. Leif Johnston will present the story of Nelson Mandela in Hope. Lori Ridgeway will reveal the real story of Betty Grable in Truth. Bailey Pender will perform the story of General Hazel Johnson in One in a Million. Rochelle Delgado will reveal insights about J.D. Salinger in More than a Character. Alicia Daymude will present the inside story of Jane Addams in Selflessness. Allen Dixon will tell the underlying story of Jimmy Johnson in Living to Succeed. Wesley Ashley will perform scenes that shaped the life Henry David Thoreau in Continuing On. Keilani Middleton will demonstrate the character of Mahalia Jackson in Humble Initiative. Stacy Hay will present the inspirational story of Ann Voskamp in Ann’s Journey.
