Honestly, when you walked outside this morning, did you have to check the calender on your phone a few times? With temperatures in the 40's, 50's, and 60's this morning and dew points in the 40's and 50's; the weather conditions were more in line for a mid September morning rather than a late July morning.

We can thank Canadian high pressure for this excellent weather which will remain in control through tomorrow with clear skies to scattered cloud cover. Winds will veer from the north to the southeast through tomorrow at 5 to 10 mph. Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the upper 70's to lower 80's for highs. Low temperatures tomorrow will fall into the lower to mid 50's in some valleys in northwestern New Jersey, upper 50's to lower 60's over the rest of northwestern New Jersey, and lower to mid 60's throughout the rest of New Jersey. High temperatures will rebound to only slightly below normal levels in the upper 70's to lower 80's along the coast and lower to mid 80's throughout the rest of New Jersey.

A cold front will approach the state on Friday morning with increasing clouds in the morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon. A few of these thunderstorms will be strong but not severe with heavy downpours, frequent lightning, hail, and wind gusts over 30 mph. Winds will veer to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Low temperatures will range from the upper 50's to lower 60's over northwestern New Jersey and mid to upper 60's throughout the rest of New Jersey. High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 80's along the coast and mid to upper 80's throughout the rest of New Jersey.

The cold front will stall off the New Jersey coast on Friday night and waver between the New Jersey coastal waters and the Delaware River Valley through Tuesday as waves of low pressure move along the frontal boundary. As a result, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be a threat each day making for a rather unsettled weekend. Temperatures on Saturday will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and lower to mid 80's for highs. On Sunday, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and upper 70's to lower 80's for highs. For both Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and mid to upper 80s' for highs.

Overall through the end of July and start of August, temperatures will average near to below normal while precipitation will average near to above normal with the primary focus on convective rainfall.
