Valentine's Day will be here before you know it! Here's a great idea for the perfect Valentine's Day drink: Merlet Creme de Framboise (raspberry liqueur). Merlet has been one of France's most luxurious fruit liqueur producers since 1850. They have mastered the growing conditions to force fruit to have the most intense flavor -- even though that results in smaller, more exclusive batches. I was very glad to have been given the opportunity to try it!
They describe it as having a "ruby red robe and wild raspberries slightly baked nose," along with a "home made" flavor.
I felt that the nose didn't have an alcoholic whiff, more of jammy fruit, like raspberries smashed with a bit of strawberries.
It's full bodied, but not syrupy, with a hint of spice. It's refreshing and you don't feel like you need some cold fluid chaser, quite delicious.
Here's a gorgeous drink that's so easy and a great substitute for a champagne cocktail or kir royale: just add a small bottle of tonic water! The sweetness comes out more with tonic, honey-like. Now, you have a sweet, fizzy drink that's very refreshing, pretty and economical for Valentine's Day.
