My dad was the king of watches and as a child I was always intrigued by his watch collection. My dad would select the most outstanding, personality fitting watches.
My dad’s watch collection included his custom made watches, one of which was quite expensive and was personalized with his first initial and last name engraved at the top, it also featured a diamond stud right above his name on an onyx interface with gold embellishments.
I have not inherited my dad’s love for watches deciding instead to use a cell phone as a means of checking for the time, or the old fashion way of asking some random person on the street ‘excuse me do you have the time’?. But I do have to admit that watches are very much classic and sophisticated acessories that are a traditional part of the fabric of fashion.
Watches, like the almost extinct style of ankle bracelets and head wraps/turbans, are the underrated accessories that have been around for ages yet hasen't quite gotten the recognition it deserves.
High-end designer brand watches such as the trendy Movado, Swiss and Cartier have been desperately vying to keep watches in the loop hole of fabulous fashion accessories alongside other popular more well known accessories like sunglasses and handbags.
Shopping for watches can be a bit tricky. While shopping for watches remember to pick a watch where you can actually read the time as oppose to picking one just for the looks of it. I mean not everyone can read or are familiar with roman numerals, and how puzzling would it be if someone asked you for the time and you couldn’t tell them? (actually that would be both puzzling and hilarious!)
