Are you wondering why you haven’t heard back from a company when you felt like you were a 100% match to the job posting? It could be that the ad was written by an entry level HR person off of an old job description. In other words, you are 100% qualified for the job posting but (possibly) not for the actual job.
In this case, your resume was likely ruled out by the Hiring Manager who knew exactly what they wanted but just didn’t coordinate with human resources, so the ad is out-of-step with the job requirements. Often positions change and no one updates the job descriptions and job postings.
This happens more often than you think!
Tip … Job Search like a Spy: For best results do a little recon on the hiring company and the position prior to applying. Contact friends and professional colleagues on sites like LinkedIn. Inquire about the job posting and it roles, responsibilities and duties.
