Four cookies made out of one large one
In 2006 I posted a query to the celiac listserv about what company made the best frozen gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. Over 80% of the replies listed Glutenfreeda as their fave frozen gluten-free cookies. It was wonderful to hear that so many people loved these cookies, but at that time no stores in the Atlanta area sold the product line. Since I was not willing to pay to ship frozen cookies, my search for chocolate chip cookies continued.
Over the next year I tried four other brands of frozen gluten-free cookies. I did not like any product enough to buy it again. Last Fall the news that Glutenfreeda was on the way to Atlanta stores was very exciting indeed!
Glutenfreeda cookies come in a little tub and the cookies are pre-formed. You don’t need to do anything except pop them in the oven and bake them. We like little cookies and these are large so we cut them before baking. Each large cookie makes four perfect sized small cookies. They are just like the ones I loved growing up - the not so healthy "cut and bake" variety. The cookies are soft and chewy (don’t bake for as long as stated on package for this affect) and absolutely delicious!
The Glutenfreeda cookie line is available in several Atlanta area stores including, but not limited to Return To Eden, Whole Foods and Natural Foods Warehouse. Check out their online store locator to see if they are sold near you. If you budget allows, you can order Glutenfreeda products from the Gluten-Free Mall.
If you decide to make small cookies, they take approximately 10 minutes to bake instead of about 16 for the full cookie. Since like most great cookies, these are not low in fat or calories, eating only one cookie cut into four makes you feel like you’re being “good” while enjoying the decadent treat. This trick also gives you 48 cookies per carton. Special thanks to Glutenfreeda for ending my three year long search for the perfect "ready to bake" gluten-free chocolate chip cookies!
The new convenient gluten-free Instant Oatmeal packs from Glutenfreeda make gluten-free travel a breeze. They use certified gluten-free oats. The apple cinnamon is my favorite of the three oatmeal flavors. The new frozen Burritos makes a quick gluten-free breakfast any time, though I've not been able to try those yet.
