Two weeks ago a woman found an emaciated dog, barely breathing in the doorway of her horse farm in Concord, NC. This beautiful puppy has been saved from the brink of death due a terrible, entirely preventable condition. Infection of the disease known as Parvo is extremely quick to take hold, but the symptoms are easy to recognize. As in the case of Collett all that was needed was a person with a kind heart to take her in a nurse her back to health.
Having fully recovered from her illness Collett is turning out to be a truly remarkable dog. At an estimated three to four months old she is able to sit, lay down and shake hands flawlessly on command and according to visual cues. She a mix (possibly Dalmatian/Jack Russel terrier) and will be a medium sized dog (30-40lbs or less). For a family looking for the perfect playmate or an individual looking for a companion it will not get any sweeter than this. In the past two weeks she has begun house training at which she has excelled, and crate training, which has involved no training what-so-ever as Collett will sleep in her crate during down time voluntarily. She is extremely playful and unbelievably sweet, willing and intelligent.
Currently she is being fostered with a family in Concord. For information about Collett visit the local rescue which is currently sponsoring her adoption, Catering to Cats and Dogs. She will also be attending the adoption events hosted at Pet'sMart every Saturday from 11:00am to 3:00pm in Huntersville until she finds her forever home. If you would like information on her please contact the author of this article via email or contact the director of Catering to Cats and Dogs.
There thousands of animals up for adoption in the state of North Carolina on any given day. It is extremely important to remember that there IS a home out there for each and every one of them, just as there is the perfect companion for anyone looking to adopt!
