Perez Hilton wins praise for restraint after being called homophobic name

Perez Hilton is a successful and polarizing figure in the entertainment industry. He often gets criticized for how he handles controversy, but he is winning praise today for the way he handled rapper Azealia Banks calling him the anti-gay "F" word.

Perez Hilton and the rapper had an angry Twitter conversation before Ms. Banks unleashed her homophobia on him. After the comment, Banks tried to defend herself by tweeting that the word she called Perez isn't bad; it is a word that is used to describe a feminine man.

Plenty of people have denounced Azealia Banks for her insensitivity. "How would she like it if someone called her the N word?" asked many people on Twitter. Many Twitter members praised Perez Hilton for calling her out on her homophobia without insulting her in the vile way he could have. The conversation has gone viral and has led to a discussion about homophobia and race.
