Last night, (May 12), the Family Equality Council hosted the 9th Annual “Night at The Pier” at NYC’s Pier 60 as reported by Mail Online. VIP guests at this premier New York City event included Victor Garber, Rainer Andreesen, Josephine Skriver, Perez Hilton, Scott Ellis, Scott Drummond, and Deb Monk, who posed for photos on the red carpet before mingling with FEC execs and honorees during the cocktail hour.
An anonymous source at the party revealed they overheard Perez Hilton speculating about the Jay Z and Solange video during the mingling. Hilton was passionately discussing the topic with guests as it is hot celebrity gossip this week.
Back to the story at hand, The Family Equality Council gave Dr. Gerald P. Mallon, Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer-Wright awards for their outstanding work as LGBT activists, before two Broadway legends brought the crowd to their feet with live performances from their Broadway hits. First, Ramin Karimloo treated guests to a performance of “Bring Him Home" from Broadway’s acclaimed new revival of "Les Miserables," proving to the crowd why he deserves to win the 2014 TONY for best actor for his role as Jean Valjean in the musical.
Finally, Idina Menzel wowed the crowd the moment she stepped on stage to sing a stunning duet with her "If/Then" co-star James Snyder. The night proved to be a huge success as The Family Equality Council allegedly brought in over $804,000 towards the cause.
