"Peppermint Patties"

My roommate is to thank for this one. Under the lines of store bought but personalized Christmas treats, this one is definitely something to try - that is, if the company is all adults. My roommate and her family have traditionally put a twist on boxed hot chocolate mix, calling their creation "Peppermint Patties." The trick is easy, as long as you have a liquor cabinet and some spray whipped cream.

Take a mug, any mug, and make hot chocolate as directed on your chosen box. I'd recommend something like Swiss Miss Indulgent Collection - Dark Chocolate Sensation. Then stir in an ounce each of peppermint schnapps and creme de cocoa. Top with whipped cream, and then drizzle some green creme de menthe syrup over it. This syrup is easily found at any grocery store somewhere near the grenadine. If you want to be extra festive, slip a candy cane into every mug so everyone can stir at will. Make these the next time someone stops by, and they just might not ever leave.
