Pepitos Mexican Restaurant, located on the far south end of Minneapolis, has been a neighborhood emblem and hangout spot for decades and is the main attraction on the 48th and Chicago shopping and dining strip.

Pepitos may not fit the typical definition of a sports bar, but  their Poco Loco Lounge attracts a large crowd of sports enthusiasts nonetheless. It has three large TVs in the bar area and a projection screen in a connected room where there is more seating available.

A unique asset of Pepitos is that it also owns the Parkway Theater, an old but still charming movie theater located conveniently right next door. What's really nice is that food and drink from Pepitos can be taken into the theater with you through connecting doors.

The menu has some pretty addicting items to boast, one of which is the poco loco wings. Marinated in jalapeño and fruit juices, these bad boys are served with some of the best tex-mex bbq sauce in town. The appetizer menu is loaded with other great eats like bbq chicken quesadillas and top-notch chips and queso. Don't miss the chimichangas, enchiladas and burritos as well.

Happy Hour in the Poco Loco lounge always has a pretty good turnout from both business people and sports fans. Mon-Fri from 4-6 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to midnight seven nights a week enjoy 2 for 1 rail drinks, half price margaritas and deals on appetizers and tap beer.

The margaritas are a common favorite and a wide assortment of tequila also lines the shelves. Don't forget to ask for the original sangrita as a chaser when taking a shot of tequila. This tomato blend is just the answer to quell a wicked shot of "to kill ya."

For sports fans, Pepitos has a lot of different specials that run during every Vikings game. Specials also run for the Twins, Wild, Timberwolves and Gophers.

Be sure to attend  Sunday brunch and enjoy one of the best Mexican breakfasts in town while watching pigskin and sipping on a margarita. Not a bad afternoon.
