Want to go from being a student to being a performer and have fun doing it? That’s the promise Theater Works gives regarding its 10-week class in acting techniques taught by Jay Horne. The class runs from Mar. 19 through May 21, 10:30–11:30 a.m., at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 8355 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, Ariz.
Students will learn improvisation, memorization strategies and other phases of acting. They will also learn how to develop stage presence, how to work with a director, and how to analyze and break down a script. At the end of the 10-week class period, students will give a showcase performance for family and friends.
Instructor Horne has performed professionally in repertory and community theater and has directed more than 80 productions. His involvement with theater spans 40 years and includes all phases of technical theater, as well as acting, directing and teaching. He has received numerous state and local awards in New England, New York, Chicago and Arizona. He has been an adjudicator for the ariZoni Awards for Excellence and currently writes reviews for the Independent Newspapers and Sun Life Magazine of Peoria, Sun City West and Sun City.
