Peoria Park District offers homeschool nature classes (Video)

Could your elementary students use a fresh approach to their science lessons? The Peoria Park District offers monthly nature programs for homeschool students. During these classes, children will find a new enthusiasm for scientific topics as they engage in hands-on experiences with the natural world.

Classes are held from 10-11:30 a.m. on one Thursday each month. Choose from Sun Fun! on Feb. 7, Reptiles on March 7, Digging Up the Past on April 4 or Camp Wokanda Pond Study on May 16. Students may attend one class or all of them, as each program is a separate registration.

The nature programs are for children ages six through 12. The cost for each class is $6 per child. Families pay a maximum of $18 for each class. Parents must attend with their children, but there is no charge for adults.

Classes meet at Forest Park Nature Center. Please dress appropriately for the weather, as students will spend time outdoors.

Registration begins Monday, Jan. 7. Sign-up can be completed online through the Peoria Park District's registration website.

Forest Park Nature Center is located at 5809 Forest Park Drive, Peoria Heights, Ill. Call 309-686-3360 for information on the homeschool classes and other programs offered at the Nature Center.
