Do you love flowers ? You buy flowers at a floral shop once in a while ? Do you like beautiful floral arrangements ? Have you ever been told by your friends that you are often finely dressed up AND have a good artistic sense ? Are you happy if you can make your own flower designs yourself ? Do you often pay attention to floral decorations displayed at hotels, wedding parties, churches or some other places in your daily life ? If your answer is Yes, you may qualify to be a good floral designer.
If you like flower appreciation and can forget everything difficult such as ongoing troubles, concerns or issuea of headache etc. when you enjoy viewing flowers, you have very good potentials to become a good floral artist. Judging from my past experience as a floral arrangement instructor, students who have a nice artistic sense in clothes they wear and enthusiastically love flowers and never hesitate to spend time for acquiring good skills of floral design could be a good candidate for an outstanding floral artist.
Preferable conditions to be a good floral designer is having a good inherent artistic sense and task oriented mind. Sometimes I find a person who loves floral designs but lacking good artistic sense judging from her clothes and hair do. If they are neatly dressed up and hair is neatly set up, it is a good sign. I can easily tell if or not she can be a candidate for a good floral designer even before starting teaching flower arrangements.
If you are slovenly in appearance of clothes you wear and not good in makeup, you might have difficulties of getting a good evaluation and reputation on your job performance as a floral artist.
Your inherent looking or appearance does not matter. If you have a good skill in making a good choice of good sense of clothes or have a good skill in wearing makeup to make yourself look beautiful, you have good potentials of becoming a good designer. Again your own inherent appearance does not matter.
I do not mean that people who do not have an inherent artistic sense cannot earn good flower arranging skills. What I would like to mention is those kind of people need more efforts to be a good floral artist than people who are inherently talented and have a good artistic sense.
As they say practice makes perfect, even if they are lacking inherent talent or artistic sense, they COULD earn such ability by way of making practice repeatedly and diligently. In this sense I feel like saying “Efforts make perfect” no matter what kind of training they do.
The bottom line is you COULD be successful as a floral designer if you have a passion and very enthusiastic attitude for devoting yourself to the training of floral arrangements without hesitating to make strenuous efforts.
