The People’s Choice Awards kicked off the award show season but lacked in the gossip range. Although there was the Tiger Woods bash that George Lopez made when presenting the Best Actress award, but that was just right down hilarious, especially when Sandra Bullock, who won the award, confessed to sleeping with Woods, as well.
Gossip sites were speculating whether Twilight co-stars and rumored couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson would show up together, but instead, neither one of them showed.
Fellow Twilight co-star, Taylor Lautner, did show and even left with an award. However, Lautner failed to create a scene with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift. The two sat in the same section, but on opposite sides, so they didn’t interact. Sites are trying to make drama by saying that Lautner didn’t even look at Swift when she walked in late to the show, even though the whole audience erupted in cheers.
Even the producers of the award show wanted to see drama between the two young stars. When Lautner won for Breakthrough Actor, the camera quickly cut to Swift. What did they expect her to do, stick her tongue out? Roll her eyes? No, she’s Taylor Swift, she sat there with a smile on her face and clapped along with everyone else. Sorry folks, but there doesn’t seem to be any tension between the two nicest teens in showbiz. And if there was, we will probably have to wait for Swift’s next album. We all remember the Joe Jonas fiasco.
Mariah Carey was even on her best behavior. Her last award show appearance, at the Palm Springs International Film Festival where she won for Breakthrough Actress, provided plenty of attention with her tipsy speech. Even though she did win for Best R&B Artist, she thankfully read her speech from the prompter to save herself from anymore unnecessary drama. However, her husband Nick Cannon had to walk her to the stage, not because she was drunk again, but because she could barely move in her skin tight, hip hugging dress. Carey figures out how to draw attention to herself somehow.
The next award show is the Golden Globes on Jan. 17. Tune in to see which stars win, which stars wore a disastrous dress, and which stars flops their speech.
