Been to Walmart lately? Strike a befitting pose as there are paparazzi present. There could be someone taking a picture right behind you to send to the ‘People of Walmart’ website. Reports of individuals who shop at the major department store chain are surfacing that they are being targeted by people looking for a cheap laugh. This includes the Wheeler family who was highlighted on FOX Thursday night for a horrific photo and caption taken at a Walmart store.
"You can't be safe in a store while you're shopping? It upsets me," said Melanie Wheeler of Ypsilanti, Michigan who found her mother’s picture on the website and can’t get it removed.
Keep in mind her mom isn’t a celebrity, doesn’t have a job on television and isn’t a reality star. However the tasteless photo online shows her mom in a very bad way. The Walmart company says there can be little to be done because the laws of taking pictures in public places, just like if you were a celebrity, apply.
Doesn’t sounds possible? Then think again as people are finding themselves on this website in bad clothes and nasty captions with faces included. Bare butts, revolting outfits and plenty of offensive slogans of private moments are all included. Focusing only on the negative, the website really appears to take advantage of shoppers who show up to buy items and deservs to have a shopping cart with a little privacy.
While Walmart doesn’t run the ‘People of Walmart website, there appears to be little being done about the site that harasses their customers. If you do this to a celebrity shopping in a store, you will be asked to leave and if you don’t you will be arrested for trespassing. If you do this to an average person, it appears it doesn’t matter.
If these folks were celebrities, this site would be shut, but because they aren’t the Wheeler family is embarrassed and that isn’t right. Take a look at the People of Walmart website to see if you were caught on camera during your last shopping trip.
