People flood in to see “Noah” pushing it to top spot at box office

Noah dominates the box office this week bringing in an estimated $44 million, which is almost doubled Divergent which only took in an estimated $26.5 million. This is a strong opening for Noah but will have a lot of competition next week as Captain America: Winter Soldier is set to premiere.

For Divergent, it has been finding some success, but is only the 18th highest grossing film for Young Adult adaptations. It should move up to the 16th spot, but may not take the 15th spot from Twilight.

Muppets: Most Wanted was able to squeak by into double digits bringing in an estimated $11.3 million, but with it’s $33.2 million box office so far, things are looking good for the end results.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman and God’s Not Dead round out the top five with an estimated $9.5 million and estimated $9 million respectively. Mr. Peabody is just shy of the $100-million mark that it’s unlikely to reach it’s $145 million budget.

The other two new movies to premiere this week are Sabotage with an estimated $5.3 million and Cesar Chavez with an estimated $3 million.
