People celebrate Memorial Day with ceremonies

People came together all over the nation to celebrate Memorial Day. Some just took a day off while others enjoyed special time with family. Some military veterans got together with a few buddies and had a beer. Others, military veterans, families of military veterans and civilians with no direct relationship with the military participated in ceremonies.

In Coral Springs, people assembled at Veterans Park to show their support for military personnel and veterans who died in combat. Coral Springs Mayor Vince Boccard said people show take the day to honor those who have served in the military. He thanked military veterans.

Vice Mayor Larry Vignola said it was important to honor those veterans who gave their lives in service of the American people and freedom.

Taps were played and a wreath was laid during the ceremony. Many veterans were present and offered respect for those who died in combat.
