Bernal residents were abuzz midweek when a pentagram--a five-pointed star used in satanic rituals--was found painted on the road leading to the communications tower on Bernal Hill.
Other disturbing items that were found at the scene, as reported yesterday by KTVU news, include a bloody cross and dark candles. A bloodstained dead bird was also apparently found there.
This isn't as far-fetched as it seems; a severed goat head was found in the Mission recently, according to news sources.
Dog walker Michael Murphy said that his dogs dig up dead animals wrapped in cloth sometimes on the hill, including chickens. He struck a disturbing note by saying he's found the severed heads of squirrels and pigeons hanging in trees!
Authorities, including the Rec and Park department, and Animal Care and Control, are investigating.
This isn't the kind of news story that Bernal residents like to see, as it seems to be something more likely to happen in Bon Temps, LA (fictional home of True Blood)... Santeria ritual? Satanic ritual? Nobody knows for sure.
