Pentagon favors Islam over Christianity: Rev. Graham "disinvited" from National Day of Prayer

In January 2003, the Rev. Franklin Graham was invited by the Pentagon Chaplain’s Office to give a sermon during a multidenominational religious gathering. In 2010, he was “disinvited” to speak at the Pentagon on National Prayer Day because of his comments which are not supportive of Islamic teachings and practice.

Graham was scheduled to give an address at the Pentagon on May 6, but was told he was no longer welcome after a complaint by Mikey Weinstein. Weinstein who has been aptly described as a “vengeful secularist crusader against expressions of Christianity by the US Military,” was the force behind the controversy surrounding the inclusion of abbreviated references to biblical passages embossed upon gun-sights manufactured by Trijicon Corporation.

In 2003, Pentagon deputy chaplain Army Col. George Campbell Jr. stated about his 2003 address, “While I, personally, would not agree with some of Rev. Graham’s comments and observations, I would defend his right to have his religious views as part of the freedom we have as Americans.” Some seven years later, the military has reversed course.

It is becoming increasingly evident that Christianity is falling into disfavor with the American government. No longer are Christians allowed to preach against such biblically condemned practices such as homosexuality, sexual immorality or abortion, such teaching being branded as “hate speech.” Paradoxically, there is no government injunction against speaking pejoratively of Christians.

When millions of Muslims are being incited to kill Christians in the name of Islam, the American military takes great pains not to offend them.

The Bible tells of a coming time when believers will be killed, not for any violent actions nor for causing injury to our fellow man, but for our testimony.

Revelation 6:9:

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Recent history indicates that the social requirements for Christian persecution are already in place. Anti-Christian bias is evident in our press, our local governments, our public schools  and our popular culture.

President Obama can deny his own Muslim heritage. He can downplay his Muslim education. He can even deny bowing down in obeisance before a Saudi king, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of Islam. He can deny being of the “Muslim faith.” In fact, he can make any claim his heart desires. What he cannot deny is that the United States military which operates under his direction, favors the Muslim faith over that of Christianity.

Oh good gravy man. Is this how you spend your spare time?

Since when did "God" become a foot race?

Maybe what is happening is that other religions are starting to get a fair shake in the public eye for a change?

And now maybe you understand how they felt at the expense of Christianity all these years?

Craig said that Dr. Graham was "'disinvited' to speak at the Pentagon on National Prayer Day because of his comments which are not supportive of Islamic teachings and practice."

Wow. Talk about understatement. What Dr. Graham said was this:

"True Islam cannot be practiced in this country...You can't beat your wife. You cannot murder your children if you think they've committed adultery or something like that, which they do practice in these other countries."

At best, such statements can only be described as inflamatory, and it really shouldn't be surprising that this kind of comment would provoke the recinding of an invitation to participate in a program that is at least nominally intended to include the participation of our muslim citizens.

Whatever one my think about Islam, it is inaccurate to suggest that the practice of "honor killing" is widely accepted, and equally inaccurate to suggest that these practices are in any way unique to Muslim countries or uniquely predicated on the Islamic scriptures.

"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." ~ Leviticus 21:9

"And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death." ~ Exodus 21:17

"For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him." ~ Leviticus 20:9

In fact, there are only a handful of countries whose legal codes and courts permit the use of "honor" as viable defense in at least some situations against a charge of familicide*: Argentina (Roman Catholic), Brazil (Roman Catholic), Ecuador (Roman Catholic), Egypt (Islam), Guatemala (Roman Catholic), Iran (Islam), Israel (Judaism), Jordan (Islam), Morocco (Islam, though in this case, honor killing provisions from the Napoleonic Code rather than the Islamic religion), Peru (Roman Catholic), Syria (Islam), Venezuela (Roman Catholic) and Palestine (Islam). *As you can see the prdomminant religion in each of these countries is divided pretty evenly between judaeo-christian and islamic majorities.

No, dimwit, the military has not "reversed course" - he can still hold whatever beliefs he wishes.

He just cannot use TAXPAYER RESOURCES to promote them.

Then again, considering you think a private contractor should put our troops at risk by deliberately insulting the religion not only of the people we are fighting BUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE OUR ALLIES, I guess we cannot expect rationality.

You, sir, are a traitor to the Constitution.

Too bad Craig that people can't disagree with you without being disagreeable. They don't understand the old and new covenants either and why is Christianity always being spit on by these people? Yes, there are "do gooders" but they don't make up all of true Christianity. And Christianity is being persecuted in this country!

Methinks the pot doth call the kettle black.

  • HUH??? 2 years ago

Franklin Graham is a chickenhawk bigot who wants to send good men and women in uniform on a 'holy crusade' against Islam while insulting the thousands of honorable and patriotic Muslims serving in uniform.
He's not fit to shine their shoes with his tongue and has no business in the Pentagon.

Islam is not a violent religion? Islam is not to blame for 911? Islam is not the reason we are at war? Islam does not say Kill the infidel...that being everyone who will not convert to Islam? sooo you are saying Christians are evil? The Bible calls people to kill everyone who will not convert to Christianity? If a Christian converts to Islam are they in danger of being murdered? Let me get this straight. Mr. Graham was lying? Was he?
