Pentacle tour heads to North America

Dutch death metal institution Pentacle is heading across the Atlantic for their first-ever tour of North America. The quartet strikes the West Coast starting Friday, August 22, and will then make their way through the Midwest, Southwest, and finally the East Coast in what promises to be a storied trail of destruction.

Each date is jammed full of cult supporting acts, including repeat appearances from Raped God, Ares Kingdom, Unholy Lust, and Morgengrau at various engagements. For the woefully uninitiated, Pentacle plays 'Ancient Death Metal' ( read that as 'Old School Death Metal' if you were born after 1990), and they serve up brutal anthems that capture the greatest moments of bands like Celtic Frost, Sodom, and Necrovore. Frontman Wannes Gubbels also did tours of duty in Asphyx and Soulburn, so if you're after more of the inimitable Dutch sound, look no further.

In an era where Maryland Death Fest remains “the only fest that matters”, and European bands eschew coming Stateside for fear of losing their shirts, it's not a small thing that Pentacle has given us a chance to show them what we're made of. It may seem almost trite to say, “Support the underground!”, but this is where the support really matters the most. Instead of beseeching your favorite Euro band to come to America on Facebook, come out to a worthy show and give the promoters a reason to take more of these kinds of risks in the future. Show up, go nuts, or else be a wimp and regret staying home for years to come. It's death metal, it's Pentacle! What more do you need?
