June is Great Outdoors Month and National Camping Month. A camping trip to one of our Johnstown area state parks is a great way to celebrate both. This year North Face has teamed up with Pennsylvania’s State Parks to promote camping as a family adventure.
Through the Explore Your Parks Program by North Face, campers are being introduced to the wonders of state parks throughout the country. Part of the program includes an activity guide for your visit to Pennsylvania’s State Parks. It includes tips for your stay and trip, ideas for things to do in our parks and other useful information about activities. In addition, the activity guide includes a coupon for $10 off a second night stay at any of the Pennsylvania State Park campgrounds.
One other part of the program is the Camping 101 camping programs. These are guided camping programs providing lessons for those who are new to tent camping. The programs include professional assistance and guidance during the camping program and in many cases equipment is provided. You will learn the basics of tent camping and camp cooking. It is a great way to learn as a family.
There are several Camping 101 programs scheduled throughout the state this summer. Here is a list of the programs and dates. All of these programs have a fee which includes food during the weekend. For more specific information or to register, call the park at the number listed for each program. Many will have a registration deadline and space is limited, so call as soon as possible.
