Second-ranked Penn State wrestling clinched a portion of the Big Ten dual-meet title by defeating conference rival University of Michigan, 34-7, before a crowd of 6,671 at Rec Hall in University Park, Pa. Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions won all but two of ten matches, racking up bonus points in five of those wins. Penn State's 184-pounder Quentin Wright and heavyweight Cameron Wade each pinned their opponents, while David Taylor scored a technical fall at 165.
Michigan got back-to-back wins at 133 and 141, with Kellen Russell earning a major decision.
With the win, Penn State is now 11-1 overall for the season, and 7-1 in Big Ten matches, tied with University of Minnesota for the dual-meet title. Michigan has fallen to 6-5 overall, 4-4 in the Big Ten.
