Yahoo! News reports that the university and the men have been in settlement talks over the last year. Currently, the school has secured 23 signed settlements, and three others are agreements in principle. Penn State still faces six other claims, and a spokesperson said some of those claims could also lead to settlements.
Jerry Sandusky, 69, is the former assistant football coach for Penn State University. In June of 2012 Sandusky was convicted after eight men testified against him. He received a 30 to 60 year prison sentence, which he is reportedly appealing.
This settlement puts Penn State's total cost over $109 million dollars. The school has reportedly spent $50 million in legal fees, PR expenses, and on implementing new children and sexual abuse complaints procedures.
