The society present concerts, typically on the 2nd Sunday of the month. We also run informal Guitar Salons & a Classical Guitar Orchestra, providing members of all levels performance opportunities.
Bio Guitarists William Newman and John Penn have been performing together since 2008. Both maintain active teaching and performing careers individually while cultivating a guitar duo repertoire, including transcriptions of works ranging from Bach and Scarlatti to Mompou, Bartok and Shostakovitch. William Newman has also appeared extensively in the Mascaro-Newman Flute and Guitar Duo and has published numerous arrangements. John Penn is currently accompanist of Flamenco Dance at Swarthmore College. He has collaborated with Flamenco guitarist Carlos Rubio as well as artists of other traditional forms.
