It is only three weeks until Penn opens the 2010 college football season at home against Lafayette. For the 19th straight season, Al Bagnoli will be leading the Quakers on the field.
Penn, ranked 23rd in the first 2010 Sports Network Top 25 FCS college football poll, has the second longest active winning streak in the FCS at eight games behind only Villanova, last season's FCS National Champion who has won nine straight games.
Penn was 8-2 overall and 7-0 in the Ivy League last season to capture its first Ivy league football title since 2003.
Bagnoli is one of the biggest reasons why the Quakers have so much success on the gridiron. He is 208-75 in his coaching career, which includes seven Ivy League titles at Penn, and he has had just one losing season in his 18 years with the Quakers.
Last year's Penn defense was the top defense in the FCS and for the second straight year the Quakers ended the season starting their fourth string quarterback on offense because of injuries.
Only four other FCS coaches in NCAA history have reached the 200-win plateau as Bagnnoli has and his 122 wins at Penn are second only to George Woodruff who won 124 games with the Quakers.
Bagnoli is the longest tenured coach in Penn's 133-year college football history. He is 90-36 in Ivy League games in his 18 years with the Quakers and is 122-56 overall at Penn.
